Have you ever made an essay? Are you sure you have made the essay correctly? If you are still confused about how to write a good essay, then you can follow these steps.

1.       Decide the type of essay.

It will be easier for you to specify the topic by knowing the type of essay. There are 8 types of essays include narrative, persuasive, descriptive, expository, compare and contrast, informative, problem solution, and argumentative essay.

2.       Choose a topic.

You can choose a topic that compatible with the type of essay. Don’t worry, if you are still struggle to decide a topic, you can pick something that you already know and attractive as a topic.

3.       Do research for your topic.

You should do some research to find evidences or supports for your topic. Gather the data, facts, or statistics obtained through book or the internet that can help your topic. Make sure the data you get comes from a credible source.

4.       Set your thesis statement.

The thesis statement expresses your viewpoint about the topic. It is basically a sentence that can describe what your essay about. You can use it as an opening for your introduction paragraph.

5.       Create an outline.

An outline can be use as a plan to build your essay. Moreover, it helps you to start writing easily and ensure your essay is organized. For creating an outline, write the topic or the thesis statement at the top and write the main ideas that come across your mind. Leave some space below each main idea and fill the space with related sub-ideas.

6.       Write the essay:

a.     Write an introduction.

An introduction should be attracting for the readers. It can inform the readers what to expect from the essay. It also contains the thesis statement you have made before.

b.    Write the body.

The body of your essay is where you develop your topic and arguments. It presents any research you have gathered to support your viewpoint. Mostly, the body has at least 3 paragraphs. Each paragraph explains only one main idea. A paragraph should start with a main idea or topic sentences and end with a conclusion sentence.

c.     Write a conclusion.

The conclusion is the last paragraph of an essay. It contains a summary of your key points that support the topic. It should finish with an impactful sentence that leaves a strong impression to the readers.

7.       Edit your essay.

It is important to reread and edit your essay, especially the spelling and grammar. Everything in the essay has to flow together. You can use transition such as conjunctions to connect your sentences, thus it easier and enjoyable for the readers to understand your essay.
